Physician to Physician Discussions > **Is there Lemon Law for Lasers? NEED HELP.**
JBird: See if you can get someone with a standard power meter to test your laser output. It should be relatively easy to see if you are getting adequate energy fluence. Make sure the actual readintgs match what the device says on the control panel. Make sure your spot sizes are correct also. You can check with laser burn paper -- measure with a ruler in mm. Your energy fluence and pulse duration settings will determine your clinical results. In general most users are saying the Gemini has been one of the better long pulsed Nd:YAG lasers out there.
Med Spa Guy,
Thanks for your response. The problem is that our actual Gemini Unit is a lemon - the loaner they gave us was allowing us to get great results.
JBird: I understand. I was just thinking that perhaps there is an error between the readings you get on your display panel and the actual energy output. This would perhaps explain your poor clinical outcomes. A simple energy meter test would probably prove your case.

I've had a IRIDEX Gemini laser for about 5 years now, and it has been nothing but trouble. We barely use the machine, and we keep having to call the service technition.
Most importantly, we have not been able to get results. IRIDEX sent out trainers again because we thought that we were administering the treatment wrong.
Then recently, when the technition came out, he found that a laser within the device was saying that it was outputting a lower frequency than it was reporting to the computer. SO IT WASN'T US, IT WAS THE MACHINE!!! IRIDEX sent the machine back to California for repairs, and after 2 months they returned it to us. In the meanwhile, we had a loaner which was giving us excellent results!!! Now we have our old machine, and AGAIN it went down with a circuit board error. I know we have a lemon.......
what can I do to get them give me a new laser or better yet give me my money back? Please help
