Physician to Physician Discussions > Most Effective Hair Removal Laser for Fitz Type II skin and Dark brown hair?

Hi everyone,

I'm a patient, but I wanted to ask the doctors, since you are the experts.

What's the most effective hair removal laser for a Fitzgerald Type II with dark brown hair? I realize that I'm a near-ideal candidate for LHR and that almost any laser will work. I did a few sessions with the Lightsheer a few years ago, and most of the hair is gone.

I still have some hair left, though, so I want to go for a few touch ups. Has a better laser than the Lightsheer come out within the last few years?

Thanks very much,
Anna

The Alexandrite wavelength is the best for light skinned, dark haired people. Try to go to a place that has an Alex witha 15mm or 18 mm spot size and you will do well.

I agree an Alex at 755 on a fitz II with dark hair would be perfect.

Can't agree more. Alexandrite is the way to go, any laser with the alexandrite wavelength of 755nm will do he trick...but remember: it's called laser hair REDUCTION not removal, meaning you will definitely need a maintenance program, o matter how wffective the laser is to keep your unwanted hair in check.
