Physician to Physician Discussions > MD/Resident needing a timeline on starting a Med Spa

Hi, I am currently in residency training and my passion is in aesthetic medicine, preventive medicine and wellness. I have just started looking into resources related to this so I can gradually build up my knowledge.
Unfortunately in academic medicine, there isn't anyone I can talk to or consult with because they have a totally different idea regarding Med Spas ( I am sure you know that).

1. Can anyone point me to a resource, any anecdote about MDs who went into this and opened Med Spas?
2. What would be a suitable time line for me?

If you send me your e- address I can send you some information. The time line depends on your individual situation and the amount of money you want to spend setting up your clinic.

Need to have a LOT of $$$$$

can I ask where you're located and if and where you'd be willing to move to set up a medspa?

you may want to look into the A4M. The American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. They have a web-site you can Google. A lot of good info. into "alternative" medicine. In terms of opening a med-spa.....I would do your homework first. You need to be good at business and you can't expect that as soon as you open your doors you'll be flooded with pts. It doesn't work like that. It takes time to develope a pt. base, and during that time there are overhead costs associated with it. Its likely you will loose money for sometime before you start making money. So its best if you start slow, maybe an office and a secretary first. Keep the expenses down.
I don't mean to discorage you, but, if you go in prepared a head of time, you have a much better chance of success.
Hope this helps....

Another option would be to partner with an existing spa. As you might imagine, the economy has challenged many owners. You could purchase a spa or partner with an owner, get exisitng clients, and save lots of up front money. Obviously you would need to do your homework, but really this could be a good option. Send me a line if you are interesed in talking.

I'm looking for a physician partner for an existing MedSpa in South Florida with over 2,000 patients. Please provide me your email if you are interested.

People are using this website as a tool to slander their competition. You know who you are. If you worked as hard at your own business then you would'nt have to spend so much time trying to hurt others.
