Tell me for what reason does a derm doc have to fire a pt? The only thing I can think of is money. Maybe an angry pt and that is about it.
Fired'em because patient wanted "generic" Retin-A.
Strange, I've never fired a patient. I think it speaks more about a doctor who is an 'expert' on firing patients than the patients he fired.
I once heard Dr Beer in a lecture to what he thought was only board certified Dermatologists berate anyone who was not a dermatologist for practicing cosmetic medicine. He said that "this is our birth right as dermatologists for getting into one of the most difficult residencies" and that derms should do whatever they can to prohibit other specialties from stealing that from them.

Heard our own pariah Dr kenneth Beer on the new XM radio channel just for docs (ReachMD I think it is channel 233) speaking about how and why to fire a patient.
Sounded good Dr Beer- a very good discussion.
