My feeling is this, the Oracea MAY help in stopping the pepetuation of rosacea, but the damage that has already been done, the vascular damage, would do well to be treated by the IPL or the Laser Genesis, which is the 1064, with very unique settings to work only on the patient with Rosacea. I also want to caution you to tell your patients that if this is a medication from the doxycycline family, it is very important to use a good sunBLOCK whenever they are using the medication, as doxycycline is one of the more photo sensitive medications there is. Also, to be off the medication for a total of 2 weeks before any IPL, laser treatments are preformed.

I've been reading a lot about 'Oracea' lately..or just seeing a lot of new ads. As I understand it, it's a time released doxycycline. (anit-inflammatory, not antimicrobial) I do referrals with 4 derms in my area and would like to know if it is an effective treatment in your opinion. Before I would recommend skincare, IPL, calming/cooling facials, I'd like to know if this would be a better 1st option for a patient.
Thanks for the input.
