Physician to Physician Discussions > Ellman Illumine or ExelO2 fractionated Co2 or Candela Co2RE

I am considered buying a fractionated CO2, was wondering if anyone had experience with the devices in the title

I have the Exelo2 and am very happy with it:
-40W power totally sufficient for my needs (treating photoaging/wrinkles, acne scarring; my pts are almost all Fitz 1-3's)
-random fractional pattern, soft edging to help in overlapping "squares"
-built in zimmer helps tremendously in comfort (I know because when my zimmer times out, my pts tell me they feel it instantly!)
- on the fly spot size and shape (square, circle, triangle), square 2x2 cm, on the handpiece itself
- i got a 2 year warranty included

- to date my patients have been very pleased (I have treated under a dozen but things are picking up - this seems like a good "word of mouth" iutreatment)

would recommend highly

ps. as an aside, was trained on a Fraxel restore a few years back and found the results dissapointing. To get any benefit we would have to crank it up to over 55- 65 J and then pts would be "out" for about a week anyway. I now believe strongly in the ablative effect (and the resultant thermal damage). My pts have not been "out" for more than 6-7 days and the results I am seeing in one frx co2 tx are equivalent to 4 sessions of the Fraxel restore. In the end it costs the pt much less...

Thank you for your input. When did you get it? I haven't been able to find many doctors that have used it. How much did you pay? Do you know of any other MDs with it?

May I suggest contacting the doctors at Elite MD in Danville, CA. They have used many of the fractional systems including the CO2RE and their patients prefer the EXELO2 for the comfort during the treatment and the staff prefer the EXELO2 because of the results and how fast it is. Below is what Vivek Bansal, MD from Elite MD said in an email along with his contact info.

For what it's worth I have 3 Engineering degrees and have been using lasers for over 20 years and the EXELO2 is the highest quality laser I ever worked with. We just did Preventative Maintenance on the 1st unit we brought into the US 3 years ago and the Articulating Arm is STILL perfectly aligned and the unit needed no adjustments. I have never seen a higher quality or better aligned systems. Also, Quantel uses an RF laser tube from Coherent which is rated for 100,320 hours (11.4 years of continuous use). Our service staff along with myself were trained at the factory in Germany and we offer a 72 hour repair guarantee. National Biological is over 40 years and still going strong. We have many more references if you like and I can be reached at 1-800-338-5045 Ext 206.

From Dr. Bansal:
Our center has used 11 of the 35 FDA approved fractional CO2 devices. We really did our homework as my wife is a dermatologist and we have a Laser Provider that has been doing laser for over 18 years, Jeff Wheaton.
Jeff does about 15 Exelo treatments a month and about 20-30 laser treatments a day. We have over 32 lasers in our practice and I can share the pros and cons of them if you would like. My cell is below and you can call me anytime after 6pm California time or Saturdays are good also.
I spoke to a lot of doctors before we got the technology and we are so happy with it so I am more than happy to now return the favor and speak with others. My cell is below and happy to help in any way we can. Thx
