Physician to Physician Discussions > Medical procedures in a spa

I would like some advice please. I worked as a family physician in Canada and ran a part time aesthetic practice from the clinic. Now that I have relocated to the UK and have a hospitalist job I wish to offer my aesthetic medical services ie. Botox, fillers, chemical peels to spas/beauty salons. I have no idea what cut to give the spa owner. I am unable to obtain this info from any aesthetic physicians in the UK as they are all in competition with one another. Thanks in advance.

Hello Maneshveri,
(I'm guessing that this is legal in the UK since this, depending upon how you're performing these treatments, may not be legal in the US.)

First, this isn't difficult. You should be able to call any of these businesses, speak to the owner, and find out what the market will bear regarding how much money is gong to these other businesses. If you have to make twenty phone calls, make 20 phone calls. This is very basic market research and if you're going to open any business you should do your research first before you spend a dime on operations.

Second, it's very common for physicians to think that getting 'day spas' and health clubs to do their marketing is a silver bullet. It can work but it is fraught with peril. If you do business in this way you will have another business who considers your patients to be 'theirs'. With medicine, this can cause a host of both ethical and business problems. (HIPPA in the US is just one small example.)
