Physician to Physician Discussions > facial burn with e max

My aesthetician overtreated a Fitzpatrick IV patient with the E Max SRA two weeks ago and caused significant burns. I have treated the burns with Silvadene cream and the scabbing has resolved. She now has dark areas where the burns were. I'm concerned about permanent discoloration. Is there any cream such as a lightening cream that I should be having her use at this time to try and prevent any permanent damage?

Syneron has multiple clinical staff that can best advise you on their equipment. I have been using the emax for the past 4 years and have treated skin type iv without any problem. contact Syneron clinical staff they may be best advise for your problem.

Hyperpigmentation in skin IV is common when using an SRA. SR is the recommended place to begin with this skin type. However, using a hydroquinone 6-10 % with hydrocortisone 1-2% may help with hyperpigmentation. However, if it is hypopigmented this is harder to treat. I would wait a good 6-8 weeks before proceeding with TCA peels that might help even out the pigmented irregularities.
