I'm a new non-core physician and wondering how to get into the medical spa industry. I don't know if I should lease an office and go all out with expenses - or sublease a room from a practice - buy lasers or rent - what to do! Where does one start without an existing patient base?

Good luck to you! Not easy in this competitive market. Find a niche. Maybe invest in a weightloss franchise first and build clientele from their or serve as a medical director for an existing spa. It would be easier and less costly to do locums than to start a new cosmetic practice in today's economy unless it is based on a reasonably priced weight loss program.

The weight loss business is very competitive as well - but I like the idea :-/

Medi-Weight loss clinics are looking to expand their presence in the market. They prefer that the physician is NOT the investor, so no upfront cost to you and the pay is on par with any nonsurgical practice. We use HCG for our weightloss program but offer complete hormonal evaluation with it. My opinion is that weight loss won't be a long term success unless your body is in balance hormonally. Medi Weight loss doesn't use HCG and I don't know much else about their program except it is NOT pre-packaged meals as much as it is a diet plan and a lot of nutritional supplements.

dont bother with franchise yet..get your feet in the door.....start by botox course and fillers...find some patients in your local beauty salon...pay them commission..etc.....start that way...no investment....once your learned then start investing your own money
