Medspa Legal & Legislation > patient responsibility by physician versus business owner

I am the medical director and an independent contractor for a medical spa that recently changed ownership between a nurse, the previous owner, and another physician. I am now moving my practice from the medical spa to a nearby location. Does the medical spa have a medicolegal responsibility to notify all of the patients of my new address?

Hey Dr.R,
If I understood your question, you were 'the' medical director. So all the patients that were treated under your supervison are your patients. You are the physician of record and are entitled to those charts in total. The business can not practice medicine or contact medical patients. They are restrained by HIPA.
