Medical Spa Business Forum > Service Contract- Any Recommendations?

Our Service Contract will be ending soon on our Sciton lasers. Does anyone have a recommendation on a 3rd party vendor to service a Sciton Laser? We are located in Ohio.

Thanks

Peggy,

There are no third parties which have access to all of Sciton's parts, service information, calibration procedures, etc. Though the 21 CFR Request process has already commenced, and the FDA is currently conducting an investigation on this, and other laser manufacturers for violations of 21 CFR 1040.10-11 for refusal to provide service information, these investigations may take up to a year.

Maintenance and repair service are often the highest cumulative costs in the laser industry, and the lack of distribution of service information is the number one cause of patient injuries after service. Be very careful who you choose to service your Sciton laser if it is not a known Sciton rep or former rep (there are very few, as Sciton pays handsomely). There is service software which must be utilized, alignment/calibration procedures which are not known to many, and specialized parts made of unique materials (like gold plated mirrors). This is the reason a brand new Sciton laser will lose it's value much faster than other manufacturers for which service and parts are more readily available.
