Technically, there is no contraindication in the literature to the fetus for a laser procedure. The relative contraindication lies in 1) any trauma canpotentially induce pre-term contractions/or labor and 2) the medicolegal ramifications of performing an elective procedure during pregnancy where any related bad outcome can then be placed on the Laser physicians shoulders. Thus, I take the approach that all electicve procedures must wait until after six weeks post-partum and sometimes until after the breast feeding period, depending on what procedure/medications are requisite for the procedure. So you are right, patience serves both the patient and the provider.

I have a 19 week pregnant patient with traumatic tattoo on her nose. Very distresed with it. I have taken the view that pregnancy is an absolute contraindication to laser treatment. Does anyone have a different view ?
