Performing this procedure has a lot of risks like this one but this shouldn't happen if it was done correctly. This should have healed in a few weeks. We strongly advise them to use sunscreen and we often prescribe them topical steroids
We have done approximately 4,000 laser hair removals. I won't mention the brand of the laser because in this case I don't feel that it is relevant. This sounds like a problem with the settings of the treatment or the ability of the head to provide enough cooling to the area treated. There is a fine line between cooling contact and no contact which can produce a either a deep burn versus a successful treatment.. It appears that you do have a burn and it should be treated as one. Initially the insult will appear as a whiteish spot and should be treated immediately with a cold topical ointment. (you can contact me for suggestions). It seems the horse is out of the barn in this case and it will require a lot of hand holding until things improve. Good Luck
Dee,
There is a mandatory form you must fill out to report this incident. It is FDA form 3500A for mandatory reporting of patient related incidents. This is the only way to keep track of issues with medical devices, and this information is used to enforce regulation, and improve patient safety. Of course nobody follows this procedure for mandatory reporting, but then, that is one of the reasons why so many doctors have to settle out of court for malpractice suits. If you do what is right, the right things will happen. None of what you say happened should have happened, and the best thing you can do for your future patients is to report this one incident, and have your laser evaluated by a third party.
I had a client that had laser vein removal on her face with cutera coolglide. She got water filled blisters and weeping.
She had imprints from the laser head after the blisters healed.
She has some areas where it looks like a slight outline of a laser.
Anyone hear of this?Is it temporary?
Will Revlite treatments help the healing process.
She is about 2 months into the healing process.
It is mostly around her nose ,chin, and cheeks. Some are pretty deep.
Some have improved.Some not.thanks
