Cosmetic IPL Laser Reviews & Comparisons > Gentlelase VS VPL Effectiveness

Hi,

I am interested in purchasing either a Gentlelase or the Ultra VPL. I have checked all legal requirements, etc, but would like a general point of view from those who have had experience with both.
Which is more effective for hair removal? This is my biggest concern.

Who is the manufacturer of the "Ultra VPL"? Is it a pulsed light system?

It is the Energist Ultra Variable Pulse Light machine. I have done some research and narrowed it down to either this one or the Gentlelase, my clientelle are first and formost interested in permanent hair reduction/removal, so I am interested in which is more effective

KK,

I think it still comes down to the majority of your hair removal patients. You need to look at what skin type they have. For me I would buy the Gentlelase because most of my patients are fitz 1 to 3. The Gentlelase will likely be more beneficial for those skin types.

You also need to look at other things you will be doing. The Gentlelase is primarily a hair removal laser but can also be used for pigmented lesions. I beleive the VPL has more options than just hair removal.

If you are just starting out with hair removal, look at spot size as one of the most important features. If you are going to be doing large sites such as legs/backs you will go bust with a small spot size. Also look at the type of cooling device. Comfort means a lot in a saturated hair removal market.

I would suggest looking at a few critical items. Type of treatments that would best fit your popultaion? If more than hair removal is needed than go with the VPL since it seems more flexible in its treatment options. Next I would look at spot size if hair is your main reason for acquirieng either system. Again from the stats it looks like the VPL spot size is much larger and that equates to faster treatment times in larger areas like backs, legs, arms, chest. I would also look at cost of service and warranty. Lastly what is the acquisition price?

I have taken these things into account, my clients are generally of european decent or thereabouts, and mostly interested in smaller areas (bikini, underarm, upper lip). I am therefore more interested in the GentleLase
Thank you for all your help

Hello, I have a second hand Ultra Energist VPL For Sale. Due to medical reasons I have had to down scale my work. Machine is in excellent condition, both hand pieces with shots. Hair Reduction very effective, for good reduction always need 4-6 treatments. Very effective for skin Rejuvenation working on pigmentation and fines lines, broken capillaries. After series of treatments give the client a refreshed look whic can take years off!

i am buying a used gentlelase can anyone tell me if this laser is effective on pigmented lesions, frckles, brown spots or not. if it is what settings do you use for it and how many treatment do you need for a good result?

The GentleLase is excellent for pigmented lesions. You'll get a nice result even in 1-3 treatments on sun spots/freckles. I love nothing better than a sunspotted chest to treat!

As far as settings go, this is dependent on the patient's skin type, color of the lesions and location. You'll get a treatment guideline with the gentlelase. I start low and do test spots. You're looking for an initial graying of the pigmented lesion and the surrounding skin should only be mildly pink. Always use a lower fluence on the chest. I find the Candela guideline is too high for that area. Hope that helps.

Make sure you are going to be able to get servicing parts on your used GentleLase. I've been told that Candela won't support these at all on the secondary market. I'm sure someone else knows more about this...I was just told this by the rep.
