Cosmetic IPL Laser Reviews & Comparisons > Aesthera ppx for hair removal
Arachne: you'd better demo other things as I have a Aesthera and have just bought a Sciton and a Lightsheer to get good hair removal(OK reduction). THe Aesthera is painless but it seems that the way things things are going for Fitz-type 1-3 (maybe 4) is a combo diode and IPL Tx. With what I know now I wouldn't do just the Aesthera. Look at the Palomar if you want a 1 platform solution....I demo'd them all. It costs nothing to look. As my grandfather said "If its free take it ; if it costs money ask questions"
The Aesthera is not working for hair removal in our Med Spa. We had to replace it after numerous patient complaints. Use an Alex or Diode that are proven.
The Aesthera is both fast and painless. I had issues early with the darker skin types but with their new tips I can now do all skintypes with no problems. It is woking well for me with Hair (reduction) but it really does a great job with photorejuvenation and is outstanding for acne,I have never seen anything like it. Proper technique was the key for me.
Kellie2200,
Can you share some of your pearls for acne treatment with the PPx system? I do not seem to get quite a good result as you do? Is the vacuum more important than the light in treating acne?
I also looked at the Aesthera PPX, but another rep told me that they did not get funding for a third time as they are a Venture Capital group. That gets me worried since they create disposable products and the group investing does not believe to more money into them. I'd hate to be stuck with a product that you cannot purchase the disposables for.
I saw a lot of disappointment with our Aesthera. First off the cost and having to constantly replace them is time consuming and costly. Secondly we had to re-treat every patient we had with that modality. Third we had a couple people hyper-pigment. This was prior to the tips for dark skin types. By the time they came out with those we stopped using it and moved on to the Cutera. I have worked with the Cutera and Sciton and I feel the Sciton is the best out of all three modalities. You want a system that allows you to safety work on all skin types.
I have just been to the FACE conference in London where the Aesthera PPX was being touted as a good hair removal device as it covers a couple of important points:
1. It is quick (nothing more dull than a slow IPL)
2. It is relatively painless
I am a little sceptical because this is actually two of the factors that I would want in a machine, especially as it is reasonably cheap. The downside I can see is the price of the disposable tips. However I would assume the reason that it is not that popular is because it ain't that great, would be great if anybody out there could let me know.
cheers
