Injectable Treatments: Botox & Filler Injections > Dysport & Reloxin Pricing

Posted this as a question from an email thread:
So, if Dysport, as they are going to call it, works faster, longer (better) than Botox, what are we going to charge for it? Lets say Botox and Dysport are priced the same; I charge $15/unit for Botox, what would be a fair and competitive charge for Dysport knowing I have to use twice as many units as Botox, say $9/unit or $10/unit?

Now that we know the price ($475 for 300 units) and considering a 2:1 conversion with Botox Cosmetic, we are essentially getting 150 units for $475 versus 100 units for $525. By my calculations, this puts Dysport at 60% of the cost of Botox Cosmetic . Has anyone decided how they are going to price it?

I have talked to a few that have been using the Dysport and they do feel it works a little faster. They feel it may start working within 24 hours and reach maximum efficacy in 5 days or so. Botox will start to work in 24 to 72 hours and reach maximum efficacy at 7 to 10 days. In my mind that is not much of a difference but it is a difference.

The people I have talked to do not really think it lasts longer or is better than Botox. They just think of it as a competitor to Botox which we all know was needed. Hopefully, competition will keep the prices down. Botox is currently giving rebates of $50 to patients which they have never done before. I would like it if they gave me a rebate other than the platinum 3%.

Dysport does disperse more throughout the muscle than Botox and will likely increase the risks of affecting non-targeted muscle groups. This is one concern of mine because I use Botox that is less diluted than the recommended dilution. I like it because I feel it is more precise to do it that way. I have never dropped an eyelid and I do about 15,000 plus unit of Botox per year.

Also, when you read the Dysport vs Botox comparisons it is not a direct 2:1 conversion. I am still trying to figure out why people are saying that you can not do a direct conversion. I am going to bring some on to try it but i am not sold on all the marketing hype from Dysport.

We have some international physicians on here that have been using the Dysport for a while so I am interested in their opinion.

I have used Dysport and Botox for 15 years or so. They are equivalent in their effects BUT I believe i generally have happier patients with Dysport and prefer it - as do most docs who have used both here in Australia. I think Dysport sometimes lasts a little longer, and I have fewer treatment failures with it. Fantastic for underarm hyperhydrosis - I only use about 80 - 100 units per side (it comes in 500U vial)
As per dosing - it is not the same unit for unit. I inject about 22 units on each side for crows feet and about 50 units for glabella.
I mix it with as much saline as I can fit into the vial - just over 4ml - if you mix Botox with 2.5ml then your dose in mls will be the same
Do not believe Allergans claims - the risks are the same with the 2 products

I think Dysport and Botox are both great to work with.

Is this stuff expensive?

Anyone with experience with Dysport willing to comment on storage. I believe the package insert says it should be used within 8 hours of being mixed. I know botox officially says something similar, but I find it maintains good potency for at least 2 weeks. Any comments?

I think dysport is as or more stable than BTx - it travels well even when mixed. I have used it 2 weeks after preparation and still effective. I have accidently frozen it and left it out of fridge overnight and still seems effctive

Do you mix Dysport with bacteriostatic saline? I do this with Botox. I started doing this vs. regular saline because I was trained that it Botox would last longer this way.
Any opinions?

hi guys..i have been using dypsort for some years after my pharmaceutical supplier in the UK lost their contract to allergan..so gave it a try and loved it...it has worked much better than botox and even lasts longer. it does diffuse a bit more than botox so when doing the forehead be a bit careful the first time. Many conversions are reported but the best one i found is 1:3 - you mix 3.3ml of saline in a 500u dysport vial and you get the same concentration (1:3) as botox ...which means when you draw it up on a 1ml syringe you inject the same volume as you would do botox..except here .1ml is 15u (1:3) and .05ml is 7.5u....

However, the same company came out with another product...azzalure....its the same as dysport except it comes as 125u and for uk prices its pretty good...at around £41 per vial
For hyperhidrosis i rarely use botox.....with dysport i haven't had anyone complaining...as with one vial you can get alot of area covered..for the same price...alot of pubmed articles on the dosages of dysport ...i think 200-250 units for palms is great and for u/a the same depending on the size of the area.

Clinics in the UK charge per area...forehead,frowns, crows feet being the three common areas....it works better than the dose thing as clients know exactly how much they will pay for before the treatment...i have tried both..you do get variations in how much you use but if you stick to a standard price you may notice you will attract alot more clients than your competitors...as your clients will be happier with a set fee rather than walking in a clinic and finding out they cant afford it....

The U.S. vials of Dysport are 300 unit vials so your dilution calculations above are not helpful.
