Injectable Treatments: Botox & Filler Injections > Dermal Filler in glabellar area

Anyone injecting fillers in the glabella area? What about tissue necrosis at this area?

Unclearlake,

I do it a lot. In the past it was felt that the vessels would be occluded by direct injection into the artery, but now it is thought to be an over filling of the area causing direct compression of the vessels.

You just need to watch closely for any changes in the skin after you inject. The area will become white and will not blanch with pressure. If this occurs you should be able to return blood flow just simply by massage. Some physicians keep nitro paste in their office just for this reason. I keep hyaluronidase in my office but have never had to use it.

It is an area that you want to be cautious about and watch what you are doing but you do not have to avoid it. Just use common sense and do not over fill.

LH,
Thank you so much for the information. Do you go more superficial or just at the same depth as other areas? Any additional advise on how to do this.

LH,
I saw your posting on this with another user. Thanks for the information. I am new at this. Any advises in general about doing this or incorporating medical aesthetic into my practice is greatly appreciated. I have been trained on injecting the cheek or other areas except for the lips, nasolabial grooves, the marionette lines. Suggestions about training in other areas? I actually want to have a full medical spa one day but the pricing on the laser equipment. Wow! And so many to choose from. I am slowing adding things. Hopefully I can add microdermabrasion and chemical peels soon. I am kind of worry about the current economy and if it's a good idea to go full time with a medical spa.

I use the hyaluronic acids in this area mostly and stay in the mid dermis.

Best advice is to add as you feel comfortable.

What type of a physician are you?

Where are you located?

Do you have partners?

FP in Texas. No partners. I have always wanted to go into the aesthetic stuff...
