My wife uses a Syneron machine and she is getting a readout that says "Bad Coupling"
Can anybody help me out with what this is referring to ?

Holy crap. Bad Coupling is a Bad Sign that she may cause an arch burn. She needs some training classes on the basics of lasers and then Syneron training on IPLs.

She really shouldn't be operating IPL lasers until she knows what she's doing.

Did she buy a used laser?

Bad coupling means sometimes, the crystal on the handpiece may not press hard enough against the skin surface, therefore it show the bad coupling on the screen.

Bad coupling appears on the screen when there not sufficient amount of conductive gel. I work with Elos laser and love it. Agree with Isaac, it is one of the best technology.

Agree the skin and handle need gel for completing the coupling when you have a message "bad coupling"
