Cosmetic IPL Laser Reviews & Comparisons > Palomar Starlux 500 vs. Lumenis One

I am down to looking at two IPL systems, Starlux vs. Lumenis one. Anybody have any particular preferences. I wanted to add fractional resurfacing later but not now. Mainly photofacials, hair removal and veins at this time.

I am about to give you some very great advise. Neither. But tell the other company that you think that you are going to by the other guys laser. Then ask them, or have your businsess manager ask them to leave the demo of the laser with you, say for a few weeks, you really, really are torn. Tell them how much you like it. Tell this to the other rep too. Tell them that they are so great, how much you want to see them succeed, what great ideas they have, how wonderful their hair looks, maybe even buy them lunch. Now, just go back and forth a bit, tell them you need to try the fractional piece, pretty soon, there will be some turnover, and viola! You may have had the unit a few months, no payments! While you are deciding, the companies will no doubt come out with a new hand piece that you will have to buy the updated model for anyway, so you can beat them up over the price make them come WAY WAY down or you won't buy, make them give you a crazy good warrantee or exchange, and the BEST BEST thing to do.....
Buy Used, or Rent/Share a laser.

Ravi,
I have used the Lum One for 3 yrs now. I get great results with IPL. Lightsheer (810 diode) is great for small areas but terrible for large areas like backs/legs. I use the 1064 Yag for veins and combine it with sclero. Overall, I like the Lum One. Very user friendly. Safe settings. Options with filters and easy to switch between all heads during a single treatment.
I know where a used Lum One is that is virtually brand new. I think they are asking around $40K.
Let me know if interested and I will forward their email/

Thanks for the input. I have decided to purchase refurbished and am looking for the best deal. I don't think I'm going with either Lumenis or Palomar but will probably look at Syneron.

05.22 | Unregistered Commenterravi

Don't buy the syeron...I'm not as rep and did own the e-max.....Syneron does not make a good product.....I have a starlux 300 and it works great...easy to use and can get one used for around 40 to 50K....Only problem now is palomar will not fix unless you pay the 30K tranfer ownership fee.

Did you know that IPL produces oxidative stress ? Look with this key words , and you will find the answer

The guy at the top is a loser and probably has a crappy life. This is probably the way he treats his patients, if he is a real doctor.

Palomar has been very good to me with exceptional service and results.

What's the deal with the Palomar Starlux and complaints of facial fat loss?

"What's Up": I have read hundreds of published articles and studies relating to pulsed light treatments and my clinics have done thousands of treatments. I have never seen anything like this or read about it. I would expect that a specialist could probably tell you it is impossible. Therefore I find these allegations very hard to believe. I would certainly like to see their "before" and "after" photo documentation.

Perhaps you should try contacting Dr. Micheal Law who specializes in fat grafting for Thermage and IPL (particularly the Palomar Starlux) related fat loss. I'm sure he could shed more light on the subject. Link below:

I have been pulsing my abdomen with all 4 different IPL hand pieces with my Starlux to see if I can get some fat loss with my 500. So far in the last 3 months I have gained 10 pounds. I don't think it is working for me. Maybe my Cutera Xeo will help me lose some fat there. :)

Dont recommmend the Syneron for hair removal. Very hard learning curve, and I have been IPL'ing and lasering for 12 years now. EASY to burn patients, it is hard to get a feel for where the handpiece is sitting, and it will burn the patient if you are not dead-on the area, it arcs. Like the e-light OK, the SR, SRA, and Refirme are OK, but definitely not the e-laser for hair removal. The Light Sheer Diode is the hair removal machine I would buy/lease/borrow/ .

I would never, ever purchase another lumenis laser again. I purchased the lumenis one and the light sheer. The lumenis one from the very first day has not worked properly, recquring rebooting during a procedure. Whats' worse is that the company I can honestly say has to be the worst at customer service, this company is out of Israel and we always got the run around that they where talking to the technicians over seas. in the meantime I was without a laser. Overall the company attitude after they sell you the laser is arrogant and they truly do not care about your experience or help when you are having problems with their product. hope this helps

Thanks!

you all should try a Alexandrite laser made by Light Age one of the best system in the world that treats all skin types from 1-6 with great effects

Dear DKW: This is not a forum for plugging your own lasers. Can you imagine how much of a mess this would be if all the laser companies were trying to do this? It is supposed to be an information exchange among practitioners and med spa owners. Please cease and desist.

I have used both the Palomar Starlux and Lumenis One. I found the Lumenis to be the better modality. It allows one to adjust settings therefore optimize the treatment, more so than Palomar. It is very easy to burn a patient and there is a learning curve just as everything else. I have NOT experience equipment failure. My rep is helpful and provides good service.

i have the light sheer, medilux, and starlux, and the quantum. light shere never problems, medilux good but not as powerfull as the quantum. my starlux i have had problems with all the heads and the coolent box.
