It's actually an illegal restraint of trade for Solta to charge exorbitant "recertifcation fees' and to withhold parts from doctors who don't pay their ransom fee for buying used. Can you imagine Ford refusing to sell parts to you because you bought a used Ford from someone else? I have a laser like this and threatened legal action, so they decreased their demand down to $5000, which is more reasonable and includes a complete work-up of the laser. However, since I don't trust them to not screw it up and then say it was that way all along, I have desisted for now. Your best course is to get tips from someone else and get service from a good laser tech. If the used laser goes caput, then you negotiate with the company.

It's actually not illegal for Solta to charge what they want for re-certification. It IS, however, "tying in", or an anti-trust violation to require re-certification in order to purchase an accessory only they can manufacture. If the tips are available elsewhere, then it is not an anti-trust violation. I have some Fraxel tips.

I have a small medspa and I am currently negotiating with Fraxel to purchase their Re:pair laser. I have scoured the internet to find prices other people have paid for used and new units without success. If anyone can give me their experiences and final purchase/lease price I would tremendously appreciate it!
