Skin Type: Pigment & Complexion > Fractional treatment for hypopigmentation
we have just started using a Fractional erbium, (palomar starlux) so we are just getting used to what it can do.
It is very painful: does anyone have advice about the best pain relief/ topical anaesthetic to use?
Our colleague who runs a clinic close by, and sees mainly Asian clients (=Chinese) and he says he uses the Fractional erbium mostly for hyperpigmentation in these clients and always has it set at 60/15.
He says he uses some midazolam and topical local
I don't think you could use any laser for hypopigmentation. Your targets are water, hemoglobin, and melanin right? Maybe somebody knows something I dont?
I use the Fraxel and you may see some slight improvement in hypopigmentation. There was a recent study in the ASLMS journal (I think it was ASLMS) that did show improvement in hypopigmentation using the Fraxel. I assume that fractional erbium would likely do the same.
I recently used the Fraxel on a depressed and hypopigmented scar about 3cm by 3cm caused form a cyst about 20yrs ago. The scar became more flush with the surrounding skin and about 2 to 3mm of the edges seemed to repigment. The central portion seemed to gain a little color as well.
Hi LH,
I have a Fraxel, would you be interested in an email support group where we exchange Fraxel experiences and opinions?
George
Has anyone used Fraxel or Palomar Fractional for the treatment of hypopigmentation? If so, at what settings?
