Physician to Physician Discussions > Tatoo Laser: Medlite C6 handpieces good?

Does anyone have experience with Medlite C6's handpieces? We are looking at it vs Cynosure's Affinity Q switched NDyag. Any other Q switch lasers that you like? Thank you.

I have the same questions. I have heard that the two additional wavelengths using the impregnated polymer rods wear out very easily and have to be replaced often. The C6 and Revolite are the most expensive q-switched on the market and are they worth the added expense. Most of the docs that do a lot of tattoos seem to use these lasers.

We have the c6 and I can attest that the polymer handpiece are not worth the money. They are underpowered. However, we like the traditional wavelengths and I still think it is the best out there. I don't know much about the Cynosure since it's new, but it appears to be a 1 joule model like the c6.

I bought the Candela AlexTrivantage Q switched 755 Alexandrite with supposedly 2 other wavelengths - the Q switched Yag and Q switched 532. I think the C6 is a much much better machine. Although I bought the laser in September 2007, Candela still has not sent out the other wavelengths. Lckily I have another Q switched 1064/532. The Candela machine is a horrible machine and breaksdown all the time. In the first 4 months that I owned it, I had 7 service calls because it was not working.
Stay clear of the Candela AlexTrivantage.

i have used the C6 since 2004. I love the machine. it just keeps going. However, the handpieces are not worth it. They are slow and have low energy. I use a q switch Sinon ruby in the office and has worked well for awkward colors. I would love to find a 755nm Q switched that works.any thoughts

I have 5 years experience using firstly Q-switched Versapulse and in the last 2 years Medlite QS for pigment and tattoo removal. We have had the dye handpieces and find them satisfactory. They are slow, esp the 650 head, but have plenty of power. I often find it necessary to tilt the handpiece to avoid too much epidermal frosting. Bear in mind that even the Alex lasers are only so-so for green and blue tattoo pigment. I have noted the occasional case using the Medlite handpieces where They have removed green better than 755 Alexandrite. For large tattoos they are too slow. For difficult pigment, multiple treatments with 1064 is still best.

Hey i have a tattoo that I have been getting removed and the clinic that I go to switched me over from the Medlite C6 to a Ruby laser because my ink started to respond less to the Medlite C6. Does this make sense to any experienced practitioners? I have heard that the medlite is more powerful than the ruby and that the ruby is effective for colorful tattoos and non responsive ones. Im just wondering if it makes sense because my tattoo is all black. Also, my main concern is that Ive heard that the ruby laser can cause pigmentation problems...can anyone explain all this to me and give me any suggestions. I would really appreciate, because im trying to get this stupid tattoo off ASAP without any bad results to my skin. Thank you very much.

Patient, everything you said is correct and makes sense. Your doctors know what they are doing.

General question, I am having trouble getting the green and blue out. I think the tattoo looks worse if the green and blue are left. What is the point of tattoo removal if we can't get the whole thing faded. I feel like telling those with Green, not to bother. What do you say to this defeatist attitude?

I posted on this site a while ago about the atrophic scarring and slight fatloss I suffered from an NDYag 1064 Cutera Coolglide vantage laser vascular spot treatment for an angioma I had beside my nose .

Now I'm looking into getting a Q-switched yag to treat various flat moles on my face, but because of my past experience with the Yag I am deathly afraid to procede with this laser. Should I be okay with the Q-switched Yag or does it work the same way as the ND Yag on vascular settings? I want to get rid of these flat moles on my face but I feel I had these problems with the vascular treatment because it went too deep and I am quite thin skinned.

Any other good options for flat moles that dont go as deep?

VD,

You should not get any indentation with the Q-S device. It doesn't cause a burn scar as a Coolglide would. Treating nasal vessels with a long pulsed 1064 device is somewhat problematic.

Thanks for the reply CanMD. The thing is, I didn't get a burn scar from the ND Yag. Besides a bit of swelling and redness, there was nothing out of the ordinary externally going on with my skin after the treatment. But these Indented lines appeared out of nowhere a week later a few millimeters away from the spot she lasered and it will almost as though it was something happening beneath the surface of my skin cuz the laser went too deep and somehow affected the fat in the surrounding area. Is the Q-switched treatment for pigment more superficial?

Are you in toronto? That is where I'm located.

VD,

Q-S laser works by photomechanically break up the pigments. It generates a lot of heat in the target but very little heat in the surrounding skin. Coolglide and other similar devices heat up the target and coagulate it. In the process, these lasers also heat up the surounding tissue, potentlally cause burn. There is no need for cooling during q-s laser operation. However, cooling is paramount in coolglide. Your problem can be over heating, undercooling or both. Double stacking during lasering can also lead to over heating. Many of these complication can occur even when everything is working perfectly. The complication of q-s laser is hyper- or hypo-pigmentation, not indentation.

I just got the Candela Q-Switched Alexandrite (755 nm) Laser for Tattoo Removal. It has a 1064 adapter and is coming out with a 532 attachment. I am excited to get better clearing of Green and Blue Tattoos. Does anyone have the Candela Q-Switched Laser? Does it work better for Green & Blue? How do you like it?

How are others dealing with the Green & Blue. I also have the MedLiteC6 and I am not getting Green & Blue well with this laser. Does the Ruby get Green & Blue? How much does a Ruby cost? Can you get one that is used?

Hello

How is your alex working. I have a 1064 q switch which works well for darks. I am also looking at alex or a ruby. Ruby from quantel is about euro 52k here. I figured it may be better to go with the candela alex with 532 handpiece as the price is better. I am waiting to hear if 532 handpiece is powerful enough for the reds. Please share your experience of it.
