Have you tried running contests on Facebook? Can you share your experiences?

I own a medspa and regularly have guessing contests on Facebook to win a service. This has dramatically increased our fans on FB.

Facebook contests can be very beneficial and create a lot of buzz about your business, but be aware of the Facebook Terms & Conditions and make sure you're not violating any policies. Most contests and giveaways run on Facebook violate the T&Cs. So review those and don't get your page shut down.

So what kind of special offers can you recommend? How do you select winners? What about people who like your page but are not local to you.. are they excluded? I have not been able to figure out a way to do a worthwhile FB promo. Can you provide some more tips?

ARuwolt - If they're not local to you, they're not valuable to your practice. They aren't likely to ever schedule an appointment. You want to have giveaways and contests that are likely to create buzz in the LOCAL community and help you get new patients for life.

When you are deciding on what product/service to give away for your content, think about the monthly cross-promotions or sales you have going on. Running a giveaway at the beginning of the month with those products/services included is a great way to bring awareness to the promotions you have running. When you post the winner make an effort to share that information as well.

In my experience there are 3 super important parts to a successful facebook contest.

1. Ensure what you're offering as a prize is a worthwhile service for the customer

2. Have a simple way to collect emails

3. Have an incentive to book an appointment right after they enter to win.

Messenger is really the best way to enter people into the contest. If you make a post on your facebook page announcing the contest and telling people to comment "I want this" below to enter. You can use a tool like chatmatic to setup a comment trigger where your page will instantly send them a personal message.

You can also collect their email with one click in chatmatic.

Then, in messenger you're building a list of engaged subscribers that you can message at any time and get 85-90% open rates with. This strategy paired with a good incentive to book an appointment after they enter is killer.

Let's say you get 500 entries, now you have a messenger list of 500 new prospects that you can advertise through messenger to. If you run this once a month you can build a massive list of super responsive people that you can advertise to for pennies.
