from what i have read , there are people here with a long expirience with the laser / ipl machines. now my question is , did anyone had a success in removing hairs from man upper back / shoulders / upper arms ? with what machine and what settings ?

i thought maybe ND-YAG can be a better laser to treat those areas even for skin types I-III , it has a deeper penetration which in those area the hairs might be deeper then any other area. what do you think ?

Mordoh: you should search this site for Hair removal. ND:YAG is safer on darker skin types. We use a combo of Lightsheer diode and IPL. Setting are different on different machines; so if you have limited experience you may want to do "test shots" so a burn doesn't result from too high a setting. hope that helps!

i know that ND:YAG is safer for darker skin types, but it also have deeper penetration into the skin. i have not found any post about successfull treatments on the shoulders and upper hands (tried to search it) , and i tought that if it has deeper penetration then with no relation to the skin type it can be used on those areas with high enough power in order to effectivly destroy the hairs there.. what you think?

I have all 3 devices (IPL, 810 Diode/Lightsheer and 1064 Yag). The Lightsheer is still the gold standard for hair removal for types 1-3. The 1064 is used for types 5-6 but does take many more sessions. I use the IPL head when I am doing large areas (legs, backs) just to save time. I have seen about the same results with it and 810 diode. I do find that IPL seems to do a better job on finer hair. However, due to the equipment, IPl seems to be more user dependent and 810 diode is more reliable.
If you are getting ready to purchase hair removal equipment look at spot size first. Some have very small spot sizes which will reduce revenues. Also look at shot counts and warranties. Lightsheer costs over $16,000 to refurbish!!!!

i am a constumer who is looking for information about the success people have with dark black hairs on the shoulders / upper back / upper hands. from what i understood this are the hardest parts to treat, and that is why i asked if someone had good results and with what type of machine with what settings. i also tried to think why is it that i read so many posts about people which got treated with alexandrite on those areas and are skin type I-III and didnt got great results compare to chest/belly/back.. so i thought maybe the penetration depth of the photons can cause that and i wanted to know if anyone had good results with the ND:YAG on those type of hairs on those areas (even if it was on darker skin type)

I have never had problems removing hair from those areas. I use an IPL that can treat light and darker skin types although I won't do a tan Fitz 5 or a 6 at all. Good luck.

LA MD , can you please share what type of IPL you use and with which settings (pulse width, fluence , # of pulses) for skin type II-III ? that will be very helpful to me, and can you please post how many treatments you do on those areas - upper hands / shoulders in order to see great reduction of hairs (70-80%).
