Other IPL & Laser Technologies > Smartxide co2 clinical exchange

Hi, i am wondering if anyone is interested in exchanging some clinical setting on operating the smartxide co2?

I have been using the setting as given by the training manual. So far the overall results are way better than my erbium 2940, and 1550 nm erbium glass laser.
Because this is a co2, I am still pretty much conservative on the setting.
I had zero case of PIH
20/ 600/700 face
2 passes
no stacking.
not much peeling.

Does anyone else has any suggestion?

pre txt
some numbing cream 30-40min
no nerve block
no injection
no oral pain killer

txt
2 passes.
setting depending on skin conditions.
usually 20w, moderate setting, on pw and dot distant.

post txt
I usually apply cold ultrasound gel right after the treatment for 10-15 min
then zimmer for 20 min to reduce the discomfort.
then a thin layer of cortisone
then a thin layer of aquafor
vinegar+ h20 for 3 days
the rest, back to regular skin care regime.

---any suggestion will be appreciated.

I have been finding dot spacing 500 seems to be a sweet spot.I vary power from 30-20 depending on skin type. For example skin type 3 i tend to be at around 25/500/500.I always apply local cream for half hour, clean off, then repeat for another half hour. I also double or triple stack wrinkles and scars.Cortisone is definately helping recovery time.

I use
10w-15w 500 spacing 500 dwell time for eyelids stack 1 always
20-30w 500 spacing 600 or 700 dwell time stack 2 for face and neck [gentler on neck -i used test patch at stack 3 and it was too intense. stack 1 on hands.
20-30w 750-1000 spacing 1000-1200 dwell time stack 3 jowls or perioral lines.
I have treated skin types 4 without any problems but I do not use DOT pitch less than 750 here.

Interested to know other practioners experience.

what sertting and space would you use above lip area ,how would you treat smoker lines would you stack on this area or would you do a higher setting .

For skin type 1-2, You can use stack 3 or even 4 at about 20W of power, spacing 700-900, dwell time 600-700. This is better than higher power of say 30w and dwell time of 1200 or above [ @ stack1]. I have found higher stacks but less dwell time reduce erythema and patients dont see dots for many weeks whch happens with high dwell times.
You can even use full resurfacing over deeper wrinkles only [small areas] and do fractional for rest of the skin. Hope this helps.

We are considering purchasing the Smartxide fractionated CO2. Has anyone seen persistent erythema or post-inflammatory hypopigmentation? We would start with primarily phototype I-III patients. Do you find results as effective as a fractionated Erbium (also looking at the Sciton) for periorbital, perioral and cheek static rhytides and tissue tightening in the infraorbital area and cheeks?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!!!
