I have had 3 treatments spaced 1 month apart and am startig to see a subtle change in the eye bag and under eye dark circle.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Please explain what this is. I never heard of this treatment. What are the indications? How does it work? etc

The treatment uses subcutaneous or intra dermal injection of Carbon dioxide gas for rejuvenation and fat cell lipolysis. It is aslo known as Carbon dioxide therapy CDT. It has been in use inFrance for the last 17 years but has been modified and refined over the last 3 years.

The presence of the co 2 in the dermis for the few seconds cases vasodilatation of the vessels and improves circulation to the area. Also the shearing force of the co 2 gas causes the inflammatory respons which is responsible for fibroblast activation. Can be used for so many more indications such as stretch marks, hair loss, psoriasis, cellulite.

Top french drs are now using it in London.

Mesotherapy comes from France, too. How do we know this CarboxyTherapy Works. Are there studies? Is the dose standardized?

Many thanks,
Irenie

Wait a second.....how do we not know that they are the "bottom French drs that are using it in London". The fact that the French doctors now have to practice in London is a bit of concern for me. I would be interested in learning more from a double blind peer review journal about this CDT procedure.

Hi.

I've been using CO2 for over 2 years now. The procedure has been used in France Royat's SPA (spring hot water saturated in CO2 , some procedure transdermal, some with intradermal injections). The first use of CO2 in the French Spa of Royat started in 1930 (transcutaneous, not subcutaneous). We have a lot of french studies concerning the use of CO2 (transdermal and subcutaneous way) in vascular ischemic diseases, not only one serious in aesthetic treatments. After I started with a great enthousiasm I think I now have a clear vision of indications, contraindication and reasonable impressions. I've also invented a portable CO2 device myself and participated (wrote spex and made tests) to the development of a carboxytherapy machine for one of the world leader on this market. I also wrote a chapter of a book at elsevier trying to publish my proptocols of treatments. We need to tell the truth concerning Carboxytherapy which is not the new miracle until proven.

First of all: THERE ARE NO CLINICAL STUDIES TO PROVE stretchmarks improvments. THERE ARE NO CLINICAL STUDIES TO PROVE UNDER EYE DARK CIRCLES. There are also NO STUDIES to prove skin tightening. The only studies you have are 2 mono centric probably biased italian studies (8 years old, never renewed by another team) to prove fat lipolysis on a small group of patient. The procedure HAS NEVER BEEN FDA APPROVED. Until now it is approved in Europe if you are using CE medical certified equipment. It should still be considered as EXPERIMENTAL procedure until a study will be there to confirm feelings.

Classical indications are
FAT REMOVAL & Cellulite Removal
Skin tightening (neck, decolletage)
Undereye dark circles
Stretchmarks
Psoriasis

After 2 years and over 250 sessions, I focused on what seems to work the best and what has no proven alternative.
Stretchmarks, decolletage rejuvenation and some blue-under eye dark circles.

For FAT and cellulite: it is painful, requiring many sessions to see the results. Other techniques like CelluM6, mesotherapy seems to work as well with, at least, less pain :) - So I canceled, dispite the fact patient were, in most of the cases, pleased.

The blue colored undereye dark circles are improved with CO2 and eye lines also because of the healing process (collagen synthesis). It is better on patients who smoke (micro vascularisation is re-opened). All the other types of dark circles are, to me, bad indications.

I had (too few patients tested) some wonderfull results on psoriasis (with photos) but not enough to prove anything.

Carboxytherapy lacks serious doubled blinded studies, multi centric and non biased. Now after some dozen procedures on stretchmarks with wonderfull result I feel one of the first study to prove things would probably be in this direction

I agree that formalised clinical trials are definitely needed. I have been doing carboxy therapy for over a year now in South Africa with the CDT Evolution, between 8 and 16 patients daily, well over 3000 treatments my clinic has done already.

I have seen fantastic results with :
1. Dellulite - but you have to use a certain technique to get satisfying results - visible within 6 treatments and yes it's painful but patients see what it is doing and come back for more.
2. Circulation - improved vericose veins and spider veins as well as arteriopathies due to smoking, and have seen gangreen recede and turn around being able to cancel amputation bookings.
3. dark -eye circles - visible results after about 6 sessions, and clients (we have many asian clients who struggle with this problem) are very happy with what they see,
4. Acne scarring as well as reduction in active acne
5. Breast firming and 'lifting' and improvement in decolletage and neck
6. Jowl reduction, skin tightening, improved skin appearance and health
7. lipolysis - comparable results with ultrashape and ultracontour (we have one of each of these technologies)
8. stretch marks - I have been amazed to see the effectiveness of this treatment - to see old stretch marks almost disappear and get to the stage where you struggle to find them is very gratifying for practitioner and patient
9. hand rejuvenation
10.Alopecia
11. Vaginal rejuvenation - this is where I have been very surprised as the women report the most amazing results - and improvement in sexual function with an added bonus - we will be publishing this by the end of the year, but to do a formal study - those of us doing this work are very busy with it, and don't always have experience with the administrative side or have an academic deparment that they can colaborate with. And which department would we approach - would it be dermatology, vascular surgeons, gynaecologists or physicians - and the territoriality between these groups is not only childish but to the patients detriment.
12. In conjunction with mesotherapy (in place of using papaverine which is difficult to source here, we used carboxy to induce vasodilation) for neck and back pain - with marked decrease in muscular spasm and relief of back pain from the fourth treatment. Even in a case where the combined efforts of a physiotherapist, biokineticist and chiropracter had not made any difference for years.

Is there not an academic department that could start taking carboxy therapy seriously and show some interest. What I'm seeing in practise and the feedback from clients surprises me daily, and yet from colleagues I daily find antagonism - I have approached local gynaecologist, and vascular departments but seem to only be met with apathy. I've stopped trying.

Our company has made a breakthrough in Carboxy Therapy with any incision or needles. If you would like more information please send me an e-mail: dhong701@gmail.com and I would be happy to explain our our new Carboxy CO2 Therapy without Needles works. We are also looking for Distributors in Europe, South Africa, and Russia areas.

I have had several sessions with the carboxy machine...my hands immediately improved.

Maya Beauty Engineering [Italy} has been making Carboxy Equipment since 2000. They have several clinical studies available on Carboxy Therapy. Their machine pre-heats the gas which dramatically reduces the pain. If anyone wants the clinical studies I will send you the PDF's.
