Hello!

I would love to hear opinions on what is the best ND yag primarily for tattoo removal. Preferably including 585 nm and 650 nm

I have been looking at the:

Medlite C6
Quanta Q Plus C
Fotona QX Max

Hi Michelle. What tattoos are you targeting? All tattoos cannot be removed by a single laser only. It also depends on factors such as tattoo color, location, depth, skin type..and others.

You may want to look at the Lutronic as well.

Jerri - I get ALL types of tattoos, in every location and every colour.......and mostly skin type 1 to 3. I know its impossible to please everyone but...

Colours mainly black, red, greens, blues, purples.

I use the lutronic spectra the yag and frequency doubled yag at 532 will cover black, dark bkue, dark brown and red.
Sime green will respond to the yag but it will take a long time. The pulse dye handpieces help with the green, sky blues and they are 650 and 585 respectivly but they have a lifespan of about 60k pulses.

You will need thiose HP with the medlite revlite and lutronic. Focus medical makes an excellent and powerful unit as well the naturlase, they are based in CT.

Of the ones you mentioned the astanza with the yag and ruby sounds like a dynamite combo

I am happy with the spectra. I had the first one in the country and use it regularly for just over a year.
I will check the 532 rep rate. I fire at 5Hz all the time anyway. It is very rare for me to use 10Hz and if I do its because i am workig with a smaller spot and want to make sure I am covering everyting.

do u find the handpieces effective on greens and blues?

I've heard from a very close derm friend that a pulsed YAG laser is the best for tattoo removal and relatively easy for dark colors that you've mentioned Michelle.

The pulse dye HP are like any other ( hoya) they really frain the power from the laser. I find they do work but you have to really look at the fluence
As for nova if you mean q switched ( pulsed) then that is true. It should be a q switched yag

We bought the Quanta Q plus C almost a year ago and have been very happy with it. We looked at the Medlite C6, the Revlite, Lutronic and a couple other units and found the Quanta was the only system with 3 true lasers: 1064, 694 and 532. The others try to "fake" a wavelength by running laser energy through a dye-impregnated rod to approximate a ruby or alexandrite wavelength but it does not work well and everyone we talked to that had one of these systems eventually quit using the "pseudo-lasers". With the Quanta system you can treat all color tattoos and the treatments seem to be less painful than with the Medlite or Revlite. The 1064 and 532 can be used at 10 Hz but the ruby is only 1 Hz. michelle,let me remind you that even after several treatments from this device, zapped tattoos will be faded but not completely gone. i offered tattoo removal then, expecting that it would be profitable in our area. turns out i was wrong. not to discourage you or anything--but just a word of caution. best of luck.

We have the ever reliable Q-switched ruby/YAG laser in our office which is considered to be the classic tattoo removal device. They cost around $80k a piece and the maintenance contract will run about $10K per year through the company.

I've heard from a laser company that nothing can (ever) remove turquoise. Is it true?

That is semi true carmina it is a very resistant color and if I see a tattoo that has a significant amount of this color I rec. that they leave it alone. It doesnt absorb the light that well, yag is out it would require a Q ruby ande will require many treatments most likely winding up with islands of ink left behined. The alex is not as good and the Q650 PD worse.
