Cosmetic IPL Laser Reviews & Comparisons > Cutera Vs. Palomar

We are looking at either a Cutera Xeo with titan vs a Palomar with deep IR, and 1540, and NdYag. Any thoughts on which would be better. I also have a satelite clinic and need a machine that is somewhat portable to take with me.

We own the Cutera XEO, however we do not have the Titan handpiece. I would encourage you to ask the sales rep about the service that is available on the unit after the service contract expires. (Hint: They only allow Cutera to replace the unit, there is no repair available, only replacement)
Ask about the price of service contract. (Hint: the most expensive in the industry.)
Ask about the effective treatment guidelines for the Titan. (Hint: none available.)
Ask if the Titan is FDA approved for skin tightening. (Hint no, only for dermal heating.)
Ask if the 560 flashlamp can be replaced once it has burned out. (Hint: no but they will gladly sell you another hand piece for 7000$.)
Other tips, be sure you install a secondary air conditioner unit for you treatment room, the Xeo generates a hell of a lot of heat. Make certain you do not mind spending a lot of time moving the foot pedal all over the txment room.
Our group is also looking for another machine and we have evaluated several lasers. The winner so far is Syneron, but I will keep you posted.
Good Luck.

Midcity: I've seen 'em all over 10yrs and the tops (to me) is Sciton. They're built great w/ good service responsiveness. I've also owned Lumenis--OK--lots of upkeep, poor factory service (IMHO); Syneron--pretty good--but quite uncomfortable--but no service issues; and Aesthera (sold mine) didn't work in my hands. take care.

OOPs: Palomar is good too--never owned one-- would have bought x the rep burned my estheticians decolette area at the demo---maybe 500 watts is too much!

Candela!

Do not buy a Cutera Pearl unless you have money to waste. It's a handpiece in search of a function.
Not that thrilled with the the rest of the system either. Live and learn. I'll never buy another Cutera laser!

To all: I recently had my 4th Titan laser treatment. I get one a year. I have them in the office of my dermatologist, administered by his nurse. She has been operating the machine for 5 years. The first 3 were fine, nice result, no downtime, no pain. The last one, we aborted after the first minute due to great pain. It is now 36 days since that last aborted treatment. I have deep 2nd and some 3rd degree burns. I have been bandaged for 35 days and am now seeing a burn specialist in conjunction with my dermatlogist. I see my dermatologist 5 days a week. I just had one of the wounds stitched and the other 4 debrided by the burn speciaist. We are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping for a good result from the procedures. Need i tell you that Cutera found "no problem "with the machine and is still ( after 36 days) "looking" at the hand piece? They claimed that this is almost unheard of in their experience. For me, this is not over. My adviced to you all: Get yourselves a product with honest, helpful people behiund it and find out how much damage it can really do.

Syneron? that thing is garbage .. i was listening to you as you talked about the Cutera love to get opinions on all lasers on the market but the moment you mentioned you said Syneron made me think you are a Syneron rep. because I have yet to meet anyone happy with that piece of garbage.

We are a Resort & Spa located in Timmins, ON Canada. I'm looking for the advice of the public to decide who to go with for laser skin rejuvenation, hair removal, ect. We recently juts had Palomar reps come to our spa for a demo. It was quite impressive ! Pricy yes, but impressive. My father and I both had veins on the side of our noses, they are now gone ! One treatment! What do other professionals think about Palomar? I need advice before spending thousands of dollars. Thanks guys.

Liz,

Palomar is good quality and works pretty well. In order to help you, we need to know what your long term goals are and what you are hoping to treat. Laser companies tend to have some good quality products and some that are not so good. I own laser from multiple companies because each of the lasers does its job very well. I own the Sciton BBLs, Sciton Erbium, Siton ProLipo, Sciton ProV, Lumenis Ultrapulse CO2 (ActiveFX and DeepFX), Lumenis Lightsheer Duet, Hoya ConBio Revlite, Reliant Fraxel, Thermage and the Cutera Xeo.

As you can see I have been adding to my stable of lasers over time and this year will be adding Zeltiq. Some of the lasers can duplicate procedures but each has its place in my clinics. Others on this site can help you to make your decisions on which lasers to demo. Do not rush into this because some sales rep tells you something. My original laser was the Cutera Xeo and I feel it was my only really big mistake because the only thing it does well with is the 1064nm laser that I use it for is spider veins and laser hair removal on my darker skinned patients.

Just so you know, I have never received an honorarium, speaking fees etc from any company although I have been asked to speak for some of them. I have chosen not not limit my ability to speak truthfully about any technology I own.

LT,
listen to what Drew says about Syneron, he's dead on with those comments. Also it's true about Titan, and i assume it's the usual problem of not having the maximum safety margin that a 1064 or YAG would provide. I swear by this modality and by the efficacy yet safety of my Aerolase, which also happens to be portable. I've plugged it into the wall in at least 15 different locations, it has never failed me. Used it many times on the face of skin type 6, no burns or problems. YAG is the way to go!

You know what? I have had experience wih palomar systems for over 10 years. They continue to amaze me with each new addition to the Palomar family. They are reliable and provide exceptional clinical results time and time again. The're new Max G OPL is amazing. I am clearing vascular lesions with one treatment 90% of the time. Rosecea treatments are cleared within two treatments. Hair removal is easy and the large spot size allows me to provide a comfortable and fast/ safe treatment. I cannot go past Palomar. They have excellent clinical backup as they tend to employ nurses and beauty therapists into their sales roles. These reps understand my business. I think the best thing about their technical service is that they have loaner systems available. If I need my system serviced, I can get another one from them within hours and continue with my booked appointments. They also have no consumables. Great product, great company.
