I am interested to buy skin tightening machine in our clinic. Have taken a look at brands like ILipo and Accent--but these are expensive. Can you please help me out?

I would suggest looking into Exilis manufactured by BTL. The results of fat reduction and skin tightening are truly impressive and very consistent. It's a workhorse without consumables.

RF is the best nonivasive technology available today. You need bipolar, 6mhz RF that is focused about 2-4 mm into the subcutaneous and heats very quickly. You can purchase a system like this for under $12k.

If fat reduction is of concern, 6 MHz and/or bi-polar RF will not do much. Simple physics.

RF works great on fat reduction but all depends on the characteristics of RF. Bi-polar is mostly for skin tightening and penetration is minimal therefore there is no meaningful fat reduction. Adding unipolar to bipolar, a tri-polar configuration, reaches slightly deeper. For the effective fat reduction look at monopolar devices with lower frequencies. Remember that higher frequency = less penetration.

RF is for skin tightening at higher frequency and 1mhz is more for pain relief but RF does not have long term effect on fat. The removal of the temporary fluid mobilization by RF is aided thru the lymphatic system by the vacuum of endermologie.

I am not sure about long term effect of RF on fat reduction. It all depends on patient's lifestyle. There is no reason for RF fat reduction to be a short term solution and I am not aware of any study that indicates the longevity of fat reduction by RF. The same goes for long term results of any, non-invasive and invasive, procedure for fat removal. The proportion of total body fat content in the state of health is dependent on factors that are under our control. All fat reduction procedures simply reduce fat; whether it will remain at this new level is up to us.

There are few devices that are based on RF and/or US. Most work well, some exceptionally well. The only advice I could give you get involved with treatment personally and you must understand the properties of each energy you use. Otherwise results are purely accidental.

Ask questions such as: what is temperature goal and why? is the goal the same for fat reduction and skin tightening the same? What is the target temperature? eg. if treatment is for fat reduction what is the temperature you can achieve in adipose layer? Do you have any means to monitor deeper tissue temperature? (There is no mathematical correlation between surface and deeper tissue temperatures).

There are many other questions that are important but not knowing the answers to the above will make any device half-useless and owner "disappointed". Simple understanding is the key to successful treatment.

Consider Exilis. It has a $4 disposable & the other machines on the market are quite expensive and have high per treatment costs on top of the expense of the machine.

What about the issues of purchasing a used machine. Will manufacturers make repairs if a machine is out of warranty which is usually the case with anything more than 2 years old. Does anyone have experience trying to get these machines serviced or obtaining a warranty after it has lapsed?
