Cosmetic IPL Laser Reviews & Comparisons > Alma Lasers

Wow...I found this blog very helpful. I'm in the process of taking over the West Texas area for Alma Lasers and needed to read some reviews on the lasers. For the most part I understand every company has its issues but the products does not seam to be a problem. There has not been a Rep in this area to take care of clients in while and hope to come in contact with some of you all in the future.
Blessings :)

We are in the process of buying our 1st laser ,we are looking at the Lumenis quantum or the Alma harmony for IPL'S AND HAIR REMOVAL,need some feedback

I have the alma harmony and the syneron emax. Alma harmony is my daily workhorse. It is super reliable. No consumable.
I love the pixel 2940nm from alma, it is absolutely a piece of fine machinery. I also have the q-switched from alma, but it is not doing really well on color tattoos.
As for the hair removal, I am using syeneron emax DSL head and the DS head. Both are doing good job except on blond and facial hairs.
Good luck my friend.

C.Lee;

Just found this form, hope this helps.

Alma has a new High Power Q-Switch, have you given that a try. I'm using it with a 2mm tip and it is super effective and fun. I have to set the expectation with my patient of multiple treatments and time to allow for the ink to be absorbed. Most are really happy with the first treatment provide I set the expectation. The only tattoo treatment I would like to try is a dye laser for those hard to remove yellows.

I'm also doing hair removal with the SHR Pro 5 hand piece and I love it. The shr mode is much more comfortable for my patients. I was amazed that it actually work using low power and multiple pulses. I'll still use my lightsheer until it dies. But some of my patient actually prefer the Harmony for hair removal. It just not cost effective to use the harmony for hair removal while I still have the lightsheer available.

I also love my pixel.

I am having a tough time deciding whether to purchase a new soprano xl SHR or the cutera xeo , with prowave, nd yag, limelight. I already have a harmony with ipl, pixel, skin tightening, and very happy with it... Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am replacing a coolglide that isnt worth fixing.... Thanks

Just wondering if anyone has input on the soprano XL SHR ? and cutera xeo.......I am replacing my cutera coolglide.
The xeo has limelight, nd yag, prowave......I also have a harmony with AFT 570, pixel, ST. And I am very happy with it. I am torn between the 2 options..I need it primarily for hair removal, but the other extras are a bonus....Help?!

I purchased a used Alma Harmony Laser system 4 months ago and it currently threw a water system error. We added water (distilled) to the machine per the instructions. After this, the hand pieces were leaking water (all of them). Any thoughts to this from anyone would be greatly appreciated. The machine is under warranty but they want me to ship it over the boarder for repair. I cannot find any information on the leaking although the leaking has since stopped.

Thanks

SW: I have a copy of the Alma Harmony owner's manual, and I know they require the use of DEIONIZED water rather than distilled. You might want to check into this.

I am extremely disappointed in my Alma Soprano Laser. We have had it in for service at least 4 times for a "system flow error" > It is unreliable and they cannot seem to figure out the problem.

It is a big money loser for me and I wish I never bought it.

I have found out that an entire "fleet" of Soprano Lasers were made with faulty heat switch which causes the flow error The company (alma) should do a recall. u will know if you have one becuase you get the Flow Error reading when it gets too hot.

Dear Dr. Smith: The Accent XL and the Thermage contain different types of radio frequency technologies. The Accent XL has both unipolar and bipolar radiofrequency modes allowing the operator to reach both superficial and deep tissue depths vs. the Thermage's monopolar technology for penetrating exclusively superficially. We would be happy to schedule a meeting to review other differences such as patient's comfort, efficacy and satisfaction.

Dear Leboyer - Your information is inaccurate. If I can be of assistance please don't hesitate to contact me directly. 1-877-319-3832 Thank you! Lake

I have experienced some flow switch errors in the past and was instructed by an Alma technician to lift the right side of the unit off the cart a few inches and drop it back to the cart, thereby dislodging a small flow valve near the deionization filtration unit. Surprisingly it worked everytime...once I had eliminated the more common lack of water issue.

My new Alma Harmony XL is down with 41/2 months use. Alma is renting me one which will get here in 4 days for $1100.00 while they are repairing mine under warranty. Not bad, only 50 or 60 appointments to make up. When sold the unit I was told to expect to refurbish the Pro 5 head a couple of times a year. Now looks like 4X per year at $3300 each. The sales person also told me that in the unlikely event the machine went down he would loan me one of his while mine is being repaired. Well, NO SO MUCH. Just something to consider.

Dear all,
I thought i would offer my opinion of the Alma laser serires and in particular the Harmony. The costs of the hand pieces, servicing, labour and support is outrageous.
The technologu is ok but the laser is underpowered.
The sales reps have bascially lied to get such good marketing coverage and people have been sucked in
ie. Acccent Spa? a complete waste of space
Soprano painfree hair removal? only if you dont want to remove the hair.
After doing the research Fotona lasers are higher powered, with excellent reliability and multi-applications for a fraction of the cost

I have received treatment from someone using Alma Harmony laser for toe nail fungus. After four sessions and several weeks of waiting I have had no positive results. Can someone tell me if this is typical? The treaters indicated before I started treatment that her success rate for treating toenail fungus with this laser was over 90%.

How is the HARMONY XL for hair removal on the face ? does the hand piece needs to be replaced very often?

If you compare it to Light Sheer Technoly which one is better?

Does Harmony Xl work well against solar spots on hands and face

Thank you

From what I've been reading on this post I can speculate that Alma Harmony is a very good and reliable system that you can use to do a variety of different procedures. If I can not get my hands on a good refurbished A.H. platform would anyone out there think that Cutera Xeo be as good a platform as Alma Harmony. Please comment on this. It is highly appreciated. Thanks.

Alma makes a pretty good piece of equipment, but, their customer service and repair services are so bad I would never buy another machine from them. As a corporation they suck.

I have been more than satisfied with my recent purchase of Sharplight's Omnimax system. An all in one unit including Laser, Skin Rejuvination, Acne and Tattoo removal. Very accommodating, superior customer service and they don't gauge you with the after sales needed with these types of units. SharpLight all the way.

We purchased an Alma harmony laser one year ago and used it not more than 20 times. It has water leaks immediately after turning the machine on .water runs out to the floor.
Most of the hand pieces have never been used
Don,t know where to send for repair
We are located in Southern California

We are planing to buy an harmony platform we mainly want it for Tatto removal and Onicomicosis, so what’s your experience with those treatments on this platform?
Thank you!

Worst company. Totally ghosted after signing and lied to my face to get rid of their old Soprano (told me it’s “bigger diode head covers larger surface area making it faster” that I found out with compete lies afterwards. They have defects in their diodes requiring expensive and poor results from the 3rd party replacement hand piece options available! And ZERO TRAINING as of 2 weeks of opening on 2 of 3 of their overpriced devices. Don’t let them rip you off!

05.14 | Unregistered CommenterDr. Weiss

I’ve operated several Alma lasers, in terms of hair removal the Soprano does not hold a candle to the Candela Gentlemax line, never used the hair removal on the harmony but it doesn’t sound like laser. The ClearLift is a joke, results so minimal that anyone who pays for it feels dumb, the IPL is fine and the pixel is okay, but not as good as fraxel…by a long shot. The flow switch error on the accent means that the hand pieces aren’t in all the way, make sure they’re in and the water is full and it should be good. Also the accent sucks, so tiring to do!!! Any in motion alma hair removal is a workout!!

Hi Dr. Leckie.
I am Rossy. I have Monalisa laser. It's working great and the power seems to be exact emitting power as stated. I wonder if you may interested.
