Injectable Treatments: Botox & Filler Injections > Juvederm Wont Go Away

A patient come see me today asking me to reverse filler that was given years ago.

She had what she thinks was Juvederm injected at her perioral creases (and maybe her philtrum columns) 2 1/2 years ago and it still hasn't disappeared. She was complaining about "monkey lip" and asked me to reinject. She had a second injector try the vermillion borders to try to correct but she said it had no effect. When I examined her, she has firmness in the entire area above her lip to her nose, and also in the marionette lines (which she says were injected over a year ago). Both previous injectors are experienced.

Fillers do not usually last more than 18 months, so I suspect it's granulation tissue. Reinjecting filler has not helped and might make it worse.

Does anyone have experience with treating this? Is it granulation tissue? Will Hyaluronic acid help? Nd:YAG?

Appreciate your thoughts!
