It is an excellent option for treating superficial lines where "volume" is not warranted. I tell my patients, Belotero smoothes the lines, while other products, like Juvederm fill the wrinkles and folds. My favorite areas to treat with Belotero are crow's feet, residual smile lines after filler to nasolabial folds, superficial cheek lines and perioral rhytids.

S. Reed, do you mix lido? What's your dosage?

I just mix 0.2 cc of Lido cause it makes the flow of injection smoother. But even w/o Lido, patients complain that it burns. IMO, Belotero is a good ha injectable for plumping superficial fine lines without over-volumizing. Plus, if my patients aren't satisfied with the product, an enzyme injection can dissolve it.

Will you recommend injecting it in other sites? Is it better than HAs? How long does it last?

I administer Belotero with 2% lido with epi 10:1. Works well for tear troughs and lines.

I use Belotero and love it, I don't mix it with Lidocaine but haven't had any particular complaints about discomfort. Definitely a lot smoother

It is not supposed to be prepared with Lidocaine because of its chemical properties. Llidocaine being mixed with Belotero could potentially undermine its efficacy.This is how it has been explained to me and I have never tried mixing Lido with Belotero.

I mix it with lidocaine. The trick is to inject very superficially or it will not last.

We have just added Belotero to our menu of services. We use it for very fine lines and we've been getting fantastic results. We also noticed that the patients prefer Belotero over other fillers.

The consensus at the moment is that xylocaine does adversely affect the longevity of the product.

Belotero is a wonderful product. However, it doesn't last that long. And I believe there are some concerns about mixing it with xylocaine to extend it's effects.

I've been using Belotero for almost a year now along with other HA fillers. It doesnt have the lifting capacity of gel based fillers like Restylane and Emervel, but Belotero gives a very soft natural result .Belotero is great for peri-oral lines ( smokers line ) and crows feet . The downside however is it is that it does'nt contain lidocaine.

We our loving Belotero Balance Injectable for plumping up lips, cheeks & correcting dark circles & hollows under the eyes!

I'd be interested in hearing whether other injectors are perceiving an increase in the amount of bruising with the Belotero, as it is so superficial. Any tips on minimizing this, apart from injection technique particulars and/or limiting massage as much as possible? thanks.

We've been incorporating 0.2 cc lidocaine with Belotero. The mix is wonderful. As of the moment, we're still observing on how long this product will last on our pts.

I've used it quite a bit around the eyes. When I'm injecting more superficially, I find it works well for that application as well as fine lip lines.

Belotero is very soft and I find that mixing lidocaine changes it' consistency making it too soft at times.

This is great for vermilion border, fine lines, decolletage. In my experience, I won't have to worry about Tyndall effect when injecting this product.

Mixing with lidocaine works great, but the longevity does not seem to be as good as Juvederm. I do like the fact that there is minimal occurrence of edema at the tear trough region. despite what the drug rep tells you or the Merz trainer, It does cause infraorbital edema is some people. But the risk is lower than a hydrophilic HA. I do like thinning it out with lidocaine for small facial lines. But again, the longevity is not there

I use a topical anaesthetic plus ice pre and post injection with very good effect. No complaints from my clients to date with this method.

I would strongly recommend Juvederm xc .i have found since changing to this product I rarely perform nerve blocks or indeed topical anesthesia .safer quicker more convenient.

I would use a filler with Lidocaine already in, there are plenty to choose from. Mixing with Belotero has been advocated by the Merz reps to many but would they back you up if you had a problem?

Curently, I am also using 0.2 cc of lidocaine with Belotero. It works very well. As far as longevity, I just started using this product. Therefore, I cannot comment on its longevity. However, I used to mix lidocaine with Juvederm which did not seem to have any negative effects on longevity. So I really do not expect any insignificant effects on Belotero as well.

Although it is true Belotero is smooth and can be injected superficially under the eyes with no tyndall effect yet it lacks the G-prime of the other fillers out there. You can simply not get the lift in other areas of the face thus making a good one dimensional filler. Juvederm is the closest filler I have seen to being a multi site filler yet there is speculation regarding the tyndall effect. Expression from Enhancement Medical is a 3rd generation HA on the market. It has seen early success with no reported tyndall effect and excellent lift that can to be injected superficially.

Agree. Belotero is a wonderful product. However, to be fair and objective, Tyndall effect is an optical phenomenon common to many liquid substances and is known to occur with superficial placement of some HA fillers including Juvederm. Therefore, Juvederm could not possibly be blamed for its known physical/optical properties but its incorrect, too superficial placement is at fault.

I have used 0.2-0.3cc of Lidocaine 2% without epi. Adding Lidocaine makes injecting the product a little easier, but honestly, I find it easier than the 2ml Restylane or Perlane. As far as the bruising is concerned, due to very superficial nature when injecting fine lines, more vascularization then higher chances of bruising - mostly in the cheek area. I do make sure there are no lumps but did not massage a lot!
