Esthetician & Skin Care Products > Efficacy of Tazorac Peels

Which is more effective in clearing up fine lines and wrinkles? Tazorac or retinol/glycolic peel? What's your recommended frequency of use to produce beautiful results?

For delaying aging both helps (retinoids and chemical peels). These are effective-- they work on different levels and most importantly, they compliment each other. In my observation, it is recommended to stop retinoids a couple of days before and after peels and to start with retinoids on low dosage till the skin gets accustomed with these products.

I advise following a routine skin care at home. It will probably be more effective than doing light peels twice a month. Especially retinoids.

Tazorac is in a gel form and much more potent that Retin-A or Micro Retin-A (a time released Retinol. Tazorac is available in a cream if you ask for it in that form. Still love peels although Rx topical should be put on hold 2 weeks prior and 2 weeks following peel (of course depending on strength and level).

I think using the peels to jump start fine lines and wrinkles is a great way to go but using something like a retinol nightly will continue the skin rejuvenation. I recommend however if you are going to do both come off retinol 5 days before the peel, even a mid depth peel. Better safe that sorry. As far as I'm concerned, retinol in some form is for the life of your skin.

I agree with missy0108. Both are effective methods of treatment when used correctly. Stopping 3-5 days before chemical peel and resume 3-5 days post peel is sufficient. I think 2 weeks is too long
