Syneron: elos, eLight, eMax, & LipoLite > Being Sued by Syneron

We bought a Comet diode laser in 2005 which had a 3 year warranty. When the warranty was about to expire, Syneron offered to extend it for another 3 years for $19,000. I ended up getting a different laser I liked better, a Palomar Starlux, within a month of signing the warranty contract. I was on a 1 year payment plan for the $19,000. I had already been charged $3000 and told them to cancel and forget about the warranty. I was more than paid up for the 1 month of warranty coverage I had.

So what did Syneron do? They pursued me for the remainder of the money! First they sent me to collections and when that didn't work, they hired a law firm to threaten to sue me. I have since retained a lawyer. I have never heard of a laser company that makes money from doctors that threatens to sue a doctor who wants to cancel an extended warranty. These guys make it seem that they are in the business of exploiting rather than serving doctors. You should seriously consider how I have been treated if you are considering buying equipment or service from Syneron.

Dear Dr Alex

That is simply horrible! What have your lawyers advised? I guess syneron must be cash strapped with the poor economy. I hope you enjoy your new system. Do keep us updated with the events that transpires with Syneron.

So sad to hear such incident regarding your misfortune with Syneron.
If you have signed the agreement, I am afraid you have to pay the full contract.
If you did not sign the contract (verbal contract is as good as signed contract by the way), and you have to pay the full term, I think you are being ripped off.

I personally have a unpleasant experience with a laser company last year. I signed the contract to buy
a new laser. I paid $5000 deposit, but I called them to cancel the deal before delivery, as I found a better deal somewhere.
I told them to keep them $5000 deposit, but the laser company did " legally" force me to buy the laser from them.

Good luck Alex. Syneron (like most laser manufactureres) are really hurting for cash. They're total whores and will screw any of their cients into the ground. Once they get your money, they couldn't care less about you. I'm hoping to never by anything but used lasers and tell laser companies like Syneron to F off.

I'm sure they will hound you to the end of the earth for the contract but if you push it to the max, they probably won't make you pay. They don't have a leg to stand on.

syneron is not hurting for cash - they have more cash in the bank than all the laser companies

don't be so ignorant

Syneron also just acquired Candela, and Candela is and was one of the most respected medical laser manufacturers in the world. Syneron also acquired another RF company last year.

Syneron , Candela, Palomar, Solta and all the lasers companies in the USA make I think really good products in general. some just have better services Depts than others. I have owned lasers from all most all of the major MFG in the last 10 years....find a product you like and stick with it. Also there are some really good 3rd party service techs out there. call around they are out there !!! good luck to all.....

I concur with your statements about Syneron and Candela but isn't Syneron made in Israel? I agree mostly with you Lissa. I think we have a lot in common. Lissa is actually my sister's name also.

I am under the impression that a number of lasers on the market were NOT manufactured in this country, therefore, each of them AS WELL AS ALL OTHERS have to be approved by FDA before marketing, Some may think their laser is the same as any other approved laser because it is only a laser. WRONG. Each product must be approved by itself to warrant permission to go to market. The mere fact it is a laser does NOT mean it is marketable according to FDA.

FDA inspects the plant, checks manufacturing processes and much more. US Customs also has a say on all imports. If it is an FDA regulated product it my be illegal to import unless it is approved for sale. Customs does not like smuggled goods to be sold here. Your law suit may be a big NOTHING IF THE DEVICE WAS NOT APPROVED BY FDA..

I really appreciate these posts. My warranty on my Gentlemax has run out and they offered me to purchase a new one for $14,000 which I declined, thanks to reading these posts. I am still paying on my laser machine but according to them I am out of warranty. 2 weeks ago my laser machine started showing an error message stating that the machine requires service. I called Syneron. According to the quote they sent me, I am paying for travel time and labor to the tune of over $2000 and the parts that I need from what they discussed with me over a 2 minute phone call costs way less than $1000. I guess their technicians fly first class. I am looking for a good local third party service techs in Texas. I am tired of getting screwed. Any referrals? Thank you.

My extended warranty with My elos plus laser is coming up for a renewal soon, I only have two laser heads that I use and the price they are asking per month is over $700, does anybody have any suggestions for a third-party technician in the upper New York State area? One thing I have to say about the Syneron warranty is they will overnight me a replacement, I can’t be a week or two without a laser. Thank you.
