Medical Spa Business Forum > What's an Optimal Room Size for MedSpa?
JBird: I was a franchisee in a national program that gave us a "cookie cutter" plan to follow that had four large treatment rooms (each with a private dressing room to boot), a huge waiting room, and even a separate "prep room". It was overkilll for a venture starting up from scratch -- unless you would be willing to spend a great deal on advertising to keep the rooms full (easier said than done).
There are a number of different approaches depending on a number of factors. One approach is to start conservatively with just two treatment rooms -- each large enough to accommodate the devices you want to use and your tables. I think 10' x 12' would be good for most situations. A separate, small and cozy waiting area for your aesthetic patients is also great (so you can keep the "sick" people separate from your aesthetic patients). Your waiting room can be your "internal marketing" center with educational DVD loops playing constantly and tons of your literature and photo books to display.

MedSpa Guy,
Thanks for your input. I definitely went conservative when I first opened my medSpa.....and now we're running out of space. So wanted to make sure that I was planning appropriately for expansion. Your insight is much appreciated.
But I agree with your point. I've physically seen too many MedSpa's that start out with such large spaces, and ornate finishings (i.e. marble floors, etc)........... you are setting yourself up for failure. The MedSpa business is not as easy as it may first seem.

If Goldilocks was building a MedSpa, what size would she make the treatment rooms (i.e. not to big, not too small, but just right?)
Also, minimum number of treatment rooms that should be allocated.
