Any recommendations for LED light? How long have you been using this in your practice?

Personally I am not sold on LED. I know estheticians swear it makes a remarkable change in the skin, however, is that short term? Research that I have read says that LED destroys the epithelial cells of the retina...now I know that we are not talking about treating the eyes, but if it can destroy even one "type" of cell, it makes me nervous

I have a Dermalux LED machine which has one head that delivers blue, red and/or near infra. I see amazing differences in my clients skin (and my own). It's becoming a very popular machine in this area because of its success rate in treating various skin complaints. It also has an extremely low running cost.

I bought Celluma LED portable panel few months ago, and have been using it very successfully ever since. All 3 light modes have healing proprieties, and FDA approved light to moderate acne application etc. The treatment takes about 20-30 min and is a great add on treatment to microdermabrasion or facial.

I prefer a low level laser which is based on coherent light. Coherence permits an improved permeability in the cell membrane and deeper, longterm therapy. Coherent light is of adequate intensity to reach the DNA and enhance gene potential. It also regenerates and maintains the lymphatic capillaries better than LEDS.

I too would like to incorporate LED treatments. Any advice on the best reasonably priced handhelds? I'm all alone and currently renting a studio. Thanks in advance!

A handheld LED light is not really that great to use in the treatment room (because you need to hold it in each area for a min. of 4 minutes, just gliding it over the face does not produce any results to be seen) - better to use the LED Umbrella - and there are several on the market - but only a few are very successful in treating - wrinkles, brown spots, and Acne. The Umbrella can also be used for chronic pain relieve and hair loss - if you like more information please email be in private.

We have a hand held and an LED Umbrella that gives the best results. Just put your client under it for 20 minutes (from 1-6 treatments according to skin condition) and you can clear acne, reduce wrinkles, lighten skin, lift sagging skin and achieve an over all more youthful and better skin. You cannot achieve that with a hand held . A handheld requires you to hold the light per area for a minimum of 4 minutes - very tedious.

I use a Bio-therapuetic LED. I.agree that holding the handhelds gets tiring.. although they are compact, I don't believe they are as strong. I really like mine, have had it for around 6 years

I am using the Celluma LED panel from Biophotas and really love it. It's very user-friendly and portable.

If you're buying LED equipment the relevant information is the output of power which is expressed as joules per square cm per time frame. A lot of companies are misleading about this because they might give the information that their equipment delivers so many joules but that may be per whole panel not per cm squared and they don't always give the time frame. In fact this information seems to be hard to get hold of. I just asked a company recently and they haven't got back to me. Why? If you're treating the skin you want to know what dose is being given to one spot of skin. NASA concluded that the optimum was about 10 joules per square cm per treatment and that less than 4 joules per square cm did not have any biological impact. so you need to find out how many joules your equipment delivers per cm squared per minute and then work out how many minutes it would take to deliver 10 joules into a cm squared then you have your treatment time. The hand held are not necessarily weaker than the panels but the panels can treat a larger area at the same time. That's my understanding anyway.
