I am considering adding Laser Tattoo Removal to my Medical Spa. Thoughts? Advice? What is the best laser for this? How painful is it? I hate causing any discomfort or pain..

Choose a good company with a Q-switched ND Yag laser such as the Medlite C6. And remember that Tattoo removal is a controlled burn! It doesn't tickle. We use Zimmer Cryo 5 chiller during treatment and always give ice packs after.

Q switched nd:YAG with at least 1Joule. DO NOT use a long-Width laser or an IPL machine!!! There are about 5 manufacturers with good tattoo removal lasers. Getting lasered is no fun. Get it over with quickly. Large spot size and fast repetition rate is a must so is a highly skilled operator. IMO, the manufacturer training is not sufficient and neither is some of the more popular schools. I have looked at Lorenzo's curriculum and like it. Hope that helps.

I was a laser tech working in a Med Spa for 15 yrs. My advice is keep capital investment down. You have to do lots of tattoos to justify your purchase. I would suggest a laser that can be muti-functional.

We do tattoo removal with laser but mainly non laser. Let me tell you laser hurts like hell. Be cautious of cheap foreign import machines and of course there is always the school of thought that link it to skin and lymphatic cancer.

The technology is not perfected yet but will be much improved within the next 3-5 years. Currently it is painful, expensive, many treatments and leaves hypopigmentation. In years to come those with tattoos will be 'crawling out of their skin' and will want to remove them with effortless, safe and affordable technology. It will be a major industry.

There isn't a laser manufacturer whose product isn't the "best". Please look at the specs before you even consider buying and new or used laser. Also, consider that the laser will need periodic servicing. The cost and quality of service is very important.

At this spring's ASLMS meeting they were showing the new Picosure 755nm operating at 750ps pulse duration to better target the small size of the pigment particles ... still doesn't address white pigments blended with others to lighten there color. Also very pricy .... they were quoting around $250K !!

I would suggest that you do a market analysis before purchasing the equipment! Lasers are expensive and you need to see what your target market is. Also, consider a laser with multiple wavelengths and modalities!
I use the Revlite /ConBio from Cynosure and love it, as do my patients! It works very well on all skin types, targets multiple colors, is fast, and has multiple modalities such as: skin rejuvenation, epidermal and dermal lesions, vascular lesions, and laser peel! I have gotten fabulous results with no hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation! Plus, I do intradermal lidocaine injections for comfort measures and my patients love it and keep coming back!

we recommend you Electro-Optic Q-switch Nd:YAG Ruby Solid State Laser which is very safe, no risk and no damage to natural skin tissue.

The ASLMS just had a cover article on Asina imports and the complications that arise from their use. If Im wrong make you next post the FDA certificate.
