Solta: Thermage & Fraxel > Fraxel, Thermage or Fillers for under eye wrinkles?

Hi Guys,
I had Botox around my eyes for crows feet and now whenever I smile I have these horrible under eye wrinkles when my cheeks push up. My practitioner said she can inject a small amount of Botox under my eyes to remove this but after reading everyones' stories I think I'll pass. Does that Steroid dose pack actually work to reduce the effects of Botox? I'd rather have the crows feet than these under eye wrinkles! I no longer feel comfortable smiling. :(

Why don't you try an anti-wrinkle cream instead? Honestly, I'm not really into botox or any other clinical treatments because they're expensive and I believe I'd still get what I want with cheaper remedies. I use NeuCell anti-wrinkle cream to reduce fie lines around my eyes. Nothing else happens other than that. I'm also afraid of side effects and pain clinical treatments could do.

I just [today] had my 3rd fractional Co2 treatment under my eyes over about 18 months.Of course I look awful today but I think in general it has helped my fine lines. After reading these postings I am definitely not getting Botox near my eyes. I feel so bad for the woman who on a previous post said she was disfigured, I've seen some of the Reality shows where women look so awful I wondered what they did...all that money and those results. I'm not unhappy with my Fractional laser treatment, I just wish, again for the amount of money, that the results were more noticable. The MD said I shouldn't need another treatment for at least 5 years. we'll see.

Hi There, We are the same age 37 and I have had Fraxel a few times and it gives fantastic results for pigmentation, even skin tone and shrinking pores. I love it for those reasons.

I have tried botox under the eyes but I did not like it, made more wrinkles then I had to start with thankfully it wore off and I look better.
I have also heard some women had slight bagging under eyes with botox too, so I would recommend you see a doctor/ MD someone with a highly respected reputation as they will either say yes to you or turn you down if they think it may cause a problem.

If you live in the UK I would visit Doctor Sebarg, he filled out the hollow under my eyes and this seemed to plump out any wrinkles I had under there...I would only go to him personally for filling under the eyes. There is a waiting list for him but worth the wait.
Good luck!

PS....Doctor Daniel Sister in London corrects a lot of other people's work and he as a treatment to get rid of bad Botox treatment, he sorted out my friends droppy eye straight away and he melted the over filled filler I had in my face, I can't believe I walked around looking like that poster for the horror movie SAW huge cheeks! and everyone noticed it was bad until my good friend recommended him, he is a superstar I look human and natural again finally.

Hi. I have had both the fully ablative and fraxel repair. First I will talk about the downtime. With the fully ablative co2, I was in a significant amount of pain for a couple of weeks (needed vicodin every 5 hours). After that, my skin felt like I had a very bad sunburn. The Dr. who did the procedure in 2000 didn't recommend vinegar soaks, which would have help a lot. All he said to do was wash with Cetaphil and apply aquaphor. The results: unbeatable. Prior to the co2, my skin was heavily sun damaged, brown spots, lots of wrinkles - too many for my age of 40 years. My face was pink for almost a year, but a good makeup covered it well, and I looked amazing. People would guess my age at between 28 - 32 No, I am not kiddiing. The Dr. also did my eyes, which a lot of Drs. won't touch.

The results lasted a good 8 years (during that time, I did not have anything else done, no botox or fillers, etc.), with very little signs of continued ageing until around 48, I started seeing some of the crow's feet, and the 11's between the eyes, lip lines, nasal labial folds started to show up.

I decided to have the procedure done again, only I couldn't find a Dr. who still used the old "gold standard" co2. Instead I was offered the fraxel repair. I was promised the same results with less pain and downtime. The upside was the pain only lasted about a week, but the results were disappointing. I didn't look much different. It helped my skin tone and I had a small amount of tightening, but for $3500.00, to me it wasn't worth it. I wish I had saved that money, and added to it over the next couple of years, and got a face lift instead.

I wish the plastic surgeons today would offer the old co2 if the patient is willing to have longer downtime, but WAY better results.

Hi! I am 42 years old and had my very first Fraxel treatment. I was told that I would look 2 to 3 years younger so I agreed to do it without hesitation. It has been a week and my eyes are tired looking and very heavy... I developed large puffy bags under my eyes and I have never had bags before so this is very scary. I no longer want to smile because my tiny crows feet went from 3 lines to 6 huge ones and now I have a wrinkle going in a totally different direction under one eye. I called the person who did the treatment and he said it will go away after the tissue heals. Something about my eyes being dehydrated... Please tell me that he is telling me the truth???? I am freaking out. :(

Hi Shan,
The first time I got the Fraxel treatment, I looked awful for about 2 weeks. My eyes did not look any diffirent, possibly a bit worse at first. It took many weeks for the tightening to begin. Meanwhile the redness remained. Possibly because of my Polish skin it did not take as well as I expected on the first try. I called the office, where I received the treament, and insisted on a second treatment for free. They countered with 2 treatments but entire payment up front. Which I complied. I received a second, got a bit more results, and recently received the 3rd Fraxel treatment. This course was over about 1 and a half years. I am hearing now from coworkers that they see a change in my skin around the eye's. I also see better results, not ultimate youthfulness I was looking for but smoother, less puffy eyes. The point with MY story is...depending on skin type, and your personal result desired, either Fraxel is not the best way to go or your skin type may be causing little change on the first treatment. Give your eyes time to heal. They say it may take 6 months. Remember also, it's a burn...keep it out of the sun and always with sunblock!

I too am looking to reduce under eye wrinkles. It seems to me that I can't seem to find a method which anyone is entirely happy with. I am female, 49 years old and have always been blessed to looking 10 years younger .... up until now! I have had Botox, usually every 6 months for about 3 years. My brow is really great and crows feet are very minimal. The Botox gives my upper eyes a fantastic "lift". I really notice when it wears off that my upper lids are a bit droopy.
It is under the eye that is my problem. After my last Botox my Doctor injected under the eye and I do not like the end result. I always had a wrinkle, like a groove going from outer eye, across top of cheekbone following the downward natural curve of the eye toward my nose about 3/4 of the way. But now it is twice as bad and my under eye above the wrinkle eye is puffy. I also suffered with headaches and tightness feeling like sinus after the injections this time for about 4 weeks. It has been about 6 weeks now since the Botox.
This wrinkle under my eyes I want gone, we are just not good friends at all that wrinkle and me!
Any suggestions? I will not have Botox under eyes again but will continue the injections under my brow and outer eye at crows feet. I really would be pleased to have some reduction in the lower under eye wrinkles. It is like one deeper groove under each eye. The only other wrinkle like that I have on my face is under my chin where I have a crease also, due to always having a little double chin right from the day I was born! Should I get a filler in these problem areas or laser, and if so which would give the better result? Thanks

Robbie, I love my Syneron device and my patients have achieved amazing results on their puffy under eyes. It really tightens the skin!

05.15 | Unregistered CommenterdrRFF

dr RFF is the Syneron done in the Doctor office or is it a home "hand held device"?

Be very cautious on the use of fillers. The skin under the eye is very thin and delicate. Laser resurfacing will definitely help.

In my practice, I've found Botox and fillers are not particularly useful for the lower lid wrinkles. These are generally not due to .volume loss or excessive muscle movement. However, I have been using PRP for those lines for the last 2 years with excellent results.

I recommend TCA peels and Retinol night serum. Best combo,

I'm 43 and have what I think are severe under eye wrinkles. Overall I've aged pretty well. I get forehead botox, wear sunscreen get facials etc... I don't have many visible lines under my eyes when I don't smile but when I do ohhhhh boy, it's bad. So bad that my 12 year old daughter even comments on them. I've had fraxel a total of 6 times. I was told 4-6 treatments are the same as one ablative laser. Due to the ablative laser downtime and price I went for the Fraxel and have noticed ZERO change in my under eye wrinkles. They even look worse. I really don't know what to do next, go for the ablative and cross my fingers?? Im not looking to erase all my lines and understand that wrinkling is going to eventually happen but my under eye wrinkles are worse than any of my same aged friends. Let's say cost and down time are not a problem at all, what would one do to smooth out the skin under the eyes???? I do product modeling and act for a living and don't want to start booking the grandma roles just yet....

Under eye horizontal wrinkles are due to zygomaticus major muscle which cannot be botoxed . Surgical approach is the way to go. Anyone has a reliable non invasive way?
