Medical Spa Business Forum > Recertification Fees Use Lasers

I would like to challenge a Laser Manufacturer regarding the legality of the recertification fees charged to used buyers.
It is commonplace for laser companies to charge re-certification fees for software upgrades, future disposables, repair, etc.
Particularly, Solta is terrible for this fee....it may be illegal.
It is my understanding that automobile manufacturers and more recently, some computer manufacturers, initially attempted to 'charge' fees to the 2nd (3rd, etc) owners of their products and this was found to be in violation of Fair Trade Acts and interstate commerce laws.

This affects us all. I am sick of companies ripping off doctors and providers and I believe this act is illegal.
Need some input, need some advice, need some contacts to help me battle this problem.

Looking for a great attorney.

Hello Dr. C.
Not sure what the outcome of this is/was but I'd be interested in hearing if you were able to make any headway. I think everyone in the used cosmetic laser market would be interested.

This and the refusal to sell parts and repair manuals to 3rd party repairers was altered last year. Currently the laser companies must provide parts and the books. Now hold on to your seat, I guess these laser rip off copies need a date to fulfill the request because if you ask people who ordered the manuel or a part have been waiting months because earn that part is " backordered" or we are printing manuals so in essence its bulshit. They know doctor practices can't hold up endlessly so they still win.

Years ago I heard a quote that was perfect " the laser co takes advantage of the doctor before- during and after the laser sale".

I would very much like to find a used cosmetic laser seller who I an trust. I'm tired of this 'call for pricing' BS which just makes me feel like a used car salesman is immediately Googleing (spelling?) me to see how much they can take me for. It goes hand-in-hand with all of this re-certification BS.
