Have you been persecuted by the Texas Medical Board? Are you a cosmetic surgeon that has had a witch-hunt perpetrated by plastic surgeons against you? I need to hear from you. I am also asking you to contact your Texas representatives regarding supporting HB 537 Relating to the investigation and resolution of complaints filed against physicians. This bill in the Texas Legislature is sponsored by Representative Bill Zedler. It is currently stalled in committee and if it doesn’t get a public hearing, it is danger of dying as this current legislative session ends. As the Texas Legislature only meets every 2 years, it may be years before we have another chance to reform the Texas Medical Board Disciplinary system. As we all know this system is punitive and assumes all involved physicians are guilty. HB 537 puts in place some common-sense reforms and starts a conversation regarding how complaints are handled. I urge every Texas Physician to contact their local representatives and ask them to support and sponsor HB 537. With enough support, we can get this bill to a public hearing before it is too late. This is the time to act before the Medical Board damages or destroys another innocent physician’s career.
